Counselling and Support Services
Our counselling and support services give people a safe, confidential space to work through some of the most difficult periods of their lives.
We have particular experience supporting individuals and families affected by domestic and family violence. Our approach is trauma-informed and person-centred, with safety and recovery at the core.
We also work with people going through grief and loss, family breakdown, financial stress, housing difficulty and other challenges.
- Individual counselling: one-on-one sessions with experienced support workers
- Family support: working with families to restore safety and strengthen relationships
- Crisis response: timely help for people in immediate need
- Referral and advocacy: connecting people with the right services and speaking on their behalf where needed
- Safety planning: practical steps to help people stay safe
Our services are designed for and prioritised to people experiencing disadvantage, hardship or the effects of domestic and family violence. We are especially focused on reaching those who face barriers to mainstream services, including people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Community Awareness and Prevention Programs
Our programs create space for connection, healing and awareness for people who have experienced disadvantage, family violence or social exclusion. We believe that community participation plays a vital role in recovery, prevention and long-term wellbeing.
- Awareness and prevention activities: workshops, events and community campaigns that promote understanding of domestic violence and social injustice issues
- Recovery and inclusion programs: activities that support the healing, confidence and social participation of people affected by violence or hardship
- Intergenerational programs: activities connecting elders with younger community members to build belonging and resilience
Participation in community life is an important part of recovery and resilience for people who have experienced hardship or violence. Every program we run is tied to our core purpose: supporting people affected by disadvantage and promoting awareness of family violence and social injustice.
Education and Skills Development
We offer accessible education and skills programs to help people experiencing disadvantage build practical skills, access employment and achieve greater independence.
- Language classes: building language skills that open pathways to employment, community participation and greater independence for people experiencing disadvantage
- Literacy and numeracy support: foundational skills for everyday life and work
- Vocational and employment skills: practical training that creates real workforce pathways
- Digital literacy: helping community members navigate an increasingly online world for work and daily life
Our education programs run in a welcoming, community-based setting and are prioritised to people experiencing disadvantage or hardship, including women and children affected by family violence. We work to reduce barriers through flexible scheduling and low-cost or no-cost participation. Delivery is culturally responsive throughout.
Community Facilities and Services
Good community services need good infrastructure. We operate and maintain facilities that meet our community’s everyday and specialised needs.
- Community meeting and gathering spaces: available for local groups and organisations
- Morgue services: dignified, culturally appropriate end-of-life care and support for families
Caring for the deceased is a serious responsibility. It requires sensitivity, cultural competence and real respect for the family and community involved. Our morgue facility exists so that community members can honour their loved ones in keeping with their own cultural values and traditions.
We work closely with families throughout this process to provide compassionate support during an extremely difficult time.
Social Enterprise
We believe that good business and community benefit can work hand in hand. Our social enterprise activities generate income that strengthens the organisation, so we are not wholly dependent on external funding to keep our programs running.
The community cafe is a training ground, a gathering place and a working example of what community enterprise can look like. It provides:
- Employment and training pathways for community members
- A welcoming social space open to the broader community
- Revenue that directly supports our charitable programs
- Meaningful, skills-based work in a supportive setting
Our fruit farming operation connects community members with the land, provides meaningful work and contributes to food sustainability. It provides:
- Seasonal employment and hands-on agricultural training
- Fresh produce for the community and the cafe
- Environmental stewardship and a tangible connection to Country
- A reliable income stream that supports the organisation's broader work
